The migration of northward expanding European Bee-eaters

Climate and land-use changes have recently caused European bee-eaters to expand their breeding range northwards. Yet, it is unknown where these new populations come from, as well as where and when they migrate. Do individuals show the behaviour of potential source populations or do they develop their own migratory strategy?

This video abstract summarizes what we found in our research about the migration of northward expanding European Bee-eaters, recently published in an article in IBIS (https://doi.org/10.1111/ibi.12752).
