Tourism into more and more remote areas and habitat degradation also afflict these birds which are sensitive to disturbance. Their sand-brown plumage acts as an excellent camouflage in the semi-deserts and dry steppes. Displaying males raise feathers of head and throat and trot around with head withdrawn onto back.
