It likes to sit on an exposed perch making sudden sallies to catch flies and other flying insects in the air. The Spotted Flycatcher often twists and turns skilfully in flight whereby you can hear its beak snap. In Switzerland, this spectacle can be observed only between May and September, before the birds once more migrate to Africa.
