Zusammenfassung

Die durch Flugzeuge entstehende Lärmbelästigung für Menschen ist ein viel diskutiertes Thema, während über Auswirkungen des Flugverkehrs auf Tiere wenig bekannt ist. Die Schweizerische Vogelwarte Sempach untersuchte daher das Störpotenzial des Flugverkehrs auf die Vogelwelt.

Abstract

The results of an already published literature review are combined with an experimental study on the reactions of waterbirds to aircraft over-flights, and with a collection of observations on the reactions of various bird species to aircraft. In general, it seems that birds can get accustomed to regular air traffic, while unusual flying objects or events may cause considerable reactions, particularly when flight altitudes are below 450 m AGL. The combined results lead to the conclusion that to protect sensitive areas against potential disturbance from aircraft an adjustment of over-flights heights including buffer zones is necessary.
