Ivory Gull

      Pagophila eburnea

      Information

Ivory Gulls live in inhospitable, hardly accessible areas in the High Arctic. Similar to the Ross's Gull, (Rhodostethia rosea), they hardly leave the pack-ice zone even during the long winter nights. Young birds have variable black-brown spots, only the adult birds display all-white plumage and a dark-based, yellow-tipped bill.
