We only process personal data in compliance with legal requirements. The Swiss Ornithological Institute is subject to Swiss law. The same applies to data protection. Accordingly, your data are processed by the Swiss Ornithological Institute in compliance with the applicable law, whether we receive your data electronically, by post or by phone. Our processing of personal user data is limited to data necessary for the functioning of our website and providing our content and services. We only collect personal data that are strictly necessary to perform our duties and services. Personal data are deleted as soon as the purpose for retaining them no longer applies.

We use “Google Analytics”, a web analytics service by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA, to track the traffic on our website. Google Analytics uses cookies (see 2.) that are stored on your computer. The information about a visitor’s website and internet use contained in the cookies can be processed and analysed by Google.
The data collected by Google may be transmitted by Google to countries outside of the EU and EEA, in particular the USA. Google has, however, committed itself to the Privacy Shield Framework. Cookies
We use cookies on our website to ensure user-friendly services. To keep addresses up to date, address information is maintained via the multisource database of Swisscom Directories AG (https://www.localsearch.ch/en/privacy-statement). -
Shop
We use cookies to save the contents of the shopping cart. These data are deleted as soon as the order has been completed or the shopping cart has been reset to 0. We process the data entered in our online shop to allow you to select and order products and services and to enable payment and delivery. The processed data include inventory data, communication data and payment data, and come from customers, people interested in our work and other business partners. Data is processed for the purpose of providing contractual services related to operating an online shop, billing, delivery and customer service. We use session cookies to save shopping-cart contents and permanent cookies to retain the login status. The data are used exclusively to maintain the customer relationship between users and the Swiss Ornithological Institute. -

We use cookies to save the competition status. We process participants’ data so we can arrange and deliver the prizes. Data is processed for the purpose of administering the competition. We use session cookies to temporarily store the answers to the questions. The data are used exclusively to maintain the customer relationship between users and the Swiss Ornithological Institute.
