Riepilogo

In 2013, Great Egret Egretta alba and Black-winged Stilt Himantopus himantopus were recorded breeding for the first time in Switzerland. The fifth brood of Eurasian Dotterel Charadrius morinellus was found. Two families of Red-breasted Merganser Mergus serrator represent the ninth and tenth breeding record of this species. Three territories of Tawny Pipit Anthus campestris and 44 territories of Common Rosefinch Carpodacus erythrinus were above average. At the end of March an extraordinary migratory congestion provoked large gatherings of Black Redstarts Phoenicurus ochruros, European Robins Erithacus rubecula, White Wagtails Motacilla alba and Bluethroats Luscinia svecica. A massive invasion of Short-eared Owls Asio flammeus occurred in spring. At the beginning of November thousands of Common Cranes Grus grus migrated westwards over the northern part of the country, for the first time in such large numbers. A Bar-tailed Godwit Limosa lapponica and a Black-tailed Godwit L. limosa overwintered, both for the second time. In December a large roost of Bramblings Fringilla montifringilla was discovered in the canton of Fribourg.
