Gli uccelli migratori ospitano una grande varietà di parassiti. Comprendere i meccanismi dell’interazione tra parassiti e animali ospitanti è complicato perché gli spostamenti dei migratori li rendono difficili da seguire per monitorare l’infezione, lo stato fisiologico e il comportamento. Puntiamo a colmare le lacune nelle nostre conoscenze sugli effetti dei parassiti sugli uccelli migratori rispondendo alle seguenti domande: quali conseguenze comportano i parassiti sugli uccelli che li ospitano? In che modo queste conseguenze dipendono da un’incidenza stagionale specifica dell’infezione e quanto durano questi effetti? Come sono collegate le differenti conseguenze dal punto di vista meccanico?
