Summer grazing areas or alpine pastures provide some the most species-rich habitats in Switzerland. Only specialised species live at this altitude, and a number of different species used to be widespread but are now only found in mountainous areas. IP-Suisse commissioned us to develop a system that makes the performance of Alpine farms in the area of biodiversity and resource protection visible and measurable.
Not only cows live in the summer grazing area but also countless plants and animals.
The summering area is characterised by varied landscapes and habitats.
Natural barriers and small structures offer protection and shelter.
Grazing keeps Alpine meadows free of woody plants and preserves them in the long term.
