The services offered by the Communications Unit are aimed at journalists, donors to the Swiss Ornithological Institute, as well as anyone interested in learning more about nature and birds or who simply has a specific question.

Interested in our services? You can choose from a range of written publications, including our annual thematic brochures, our newsletter, or Avinews, the magazine we publish for our volunteers and specialist colleagues. We also offer a series of podcasts that give you a glimpse into the hands-on work of the Swiss Ornithological Institute. On our YouTube channel and our Instagram, Facebook, and Bluesky accounts, you’ll find videos, photos, and plenty of interesting information.

You receive information about 400 bird species under the heading “Birds of Switzerland”. Here you will also find the actual number of birds as well as information on distribution and threat.

The rights to all images used by the Swiss Ornithological Institute are held by the respective photographers. The Swiss Ornithological Institute only has rights of use and cannot grant any rights of further use. If you wish to use any of the images, please contact the relevant photographers directly.
