By means of sustainable land use, Swiss farmers create lasting benefits for nature and the landscape. This forms the basic prerequisite for the permanent existence of wildlife in cultivated land. In order to achieve these goals, we support farmers with information and advice and demonstrate through practical projects how food production and species conservation can be combined.

Species-rich hedges provide habitat for beneficial insects.

Orchard meadows are prevailing features of landscapes and can promote biodiversity with piles of branches and structural elements.

Extensive grain cultivation conserves natural resources.

Staggering the use of meadows leads to a diverse mosaic of uses, thereby favouring biodiversity.

Small structures form valuable stepping stones between habitats.

Low-impact production methods such as cereals set in wide rows combined with high-quality biodiversity promotion areas contribute to the conservation of wildlife.

Wildflower strips provide a year-round food supply and are also an important refuge.

We promote wildlife-friendly agriculture with more high-quality and better-connected habitats, fewer artificial fertilisers and fewer pesticides.
