Il luì verde vive in foreste decidue miste di età media o avanzata. A intervalli irregolari gli alberi di queste foreste producono grandi quantità di semi, una risorsa che influisce su numerose specie di animali. Questo progetto di ricerca esamina le interazioni tra gli uccelli che nidificano sul terreno come il luì verde, i roditori boschivi (topi), i loro predatori e altri fattori ambientali. L’obiettivo è comprendere le ragioni delle notevoli fluttuazioni annuali della popolazione di questa specie che si trova sulla lista rossa in Svizzera e in altri paesi europei.
