Having been heavily affected by peat extraction over the past century, the wetland of Châtagne has gradually dried out and been colonised by a large number of willows. Now, regeneration work is being carried out with the aim of once again making the area attractive to typical peatland flora and fauna, as well as other species associated with wetlands.
Following its restoration, the peat bog shows a mosaic of environments rich in biodiversity.

In all, ten new water bodies were created.
The restoration of the peat bog has already had a positive impact on wildlife, particularly dragonflies.
