The project aims to restore a vast historic chestnut grove overlooking the border village of Saint-Gingolph and Lake Geneva. The Swiss Ornithological Institute is providing financial and technical support for the project.

Thanks to the interventions, the chestnut grove is once again open and full of light.
Hundreds of young chestnut trees have been planted amongst the older ones.
While waiting for the chestnut trees to age and the supply of natural cavities to increase, nest boxes have been installed to attract cavity-nesting species such as the common redstart.
Some of the wood cut down to open up the chestnut grove has been put to good use in the form of large piles of branches, which provide valuable shelter for small animals.
