Cliff-nesting birds favour habitats to which very few predators have access. Any human leisure activity that takes place near nests thus amplifies the disturbance. This project aims to prevent such disturbance to six sensitive cliff-nesting species (golden eagle, bearded vulture, peregrine falcon, red-billed chough, eagle-owl and blue rock thrush) and strike a balance between human activity and birds.

Wildlife conservation coordinates the development, improvement and dissemination of measures in favour of priority bird species that cannot be helped by habitat protection alone. Together with BirdLife Switzerland and the Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN), the department also coordinates the “Species Recovery for Swiss Birds” programme.
