Established in 2000, the Valais regional office works to promote birdlife and biodiversity in the canton, in close collaboration with local partners. Its priorities focus on the ecological enhancement of agricultural habitats – such as vineyards, fruit plantations, grasslands and arable crops – as well as the conservation of target species such as the European nightjar, the Eurasian scops owl, the northern lapwing, the whinchat, rock-nesting birds and building breeders.
